WGB Lagos FA Cup: Prince Kazeem Eletu Official Gives Reasons For Absence

Team Manager of Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club, Mufau Eletu has come out to explain why the team opted out in the ongoing Winners Golden Bet Lagos State Challenge Cup.

Prince Kazeem Eletu failed to show off in their match against Power of The Cross FC in the first round of the annual state competition.

Some Lagosian football fans were surprised with the absence of Prince Kazeem Eletu in this year’s edition despite their good outing at the recent Moroccan invitational tournament.

In a statement signed and copied by our correspondent, the club manager revealed that most of his senior players who were registered for the competition have gotten offered outside the country and there is no way they can parade a depleted team for FA Cup.

He revealed that presently the club is recruiting new players to fortify the team ahead of the new season and apologized to their fans for not featuring in this year’s edition.

“We have received calls and text messages that why we did not play in this year’s Lagos FA Cup. We initially planned to play it but most of our players that registered for the FA Cup are not in Nigeria. They have gotten new offers outside the country.

“Presently we have commenced our trials to allow some new players to join us and I hope that we would play in the next year’s FA Cup. I am using this medium to appeal to our fans within and outside the country to bear with us and promised that Prince Kazeem Eletu would be back in action soonest,” he said.

Meanwhile, in order to come out formidable, Prince Kazeem Eletu has recently unveiled Bilal Sousdi as a new head coach that would be in charge of the team in the next few years.

This was announced by the founder and chairman of the club, Prince Kazeem Eletu.

Sousdi has replaced former French coach, Gilles Hugon who had left the club for bigger assignment. Prior to his appointment, Sousdi was in charge of PSG {Doha} and Al Arabi SC {Doha}

The club chairman in his statement announced Bob Osim as an assistant coach of senior team. He would assist Sousdi who came from Qatar.

Osim was the former Super Eagles player. During his active days, he played for Enyimba FC and Calabar Rovers. Osim is expected to bring his wealth of experience to assist the club in their subsequent matches.
