Wizkid, Olamide Battle For 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards

Nigeria Afro-pop stars Wizkid and Olamide have been nominated for the Best African Act category at the upcoming 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Also nominated in the same category of the awards holding on Sunday, 6 November from the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, are Alikiba (Tanzania), Black Coffee (South Africa) and Cassper Nyovest (South Africa).

Commented Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, said; “It is wonderful to see African artists nominated at the 2016 MTV EMAs on the same platform as global superstars of the calibre of Rihanna, Beyoncé, Drake, Kanye West and more.”

From the nomination list released, Beyoncé and Justin Bieber had the highest nominations, with five each, while Adele, Rock group Coldplay, Lukas Graham and the Best Male candidate Shawn Mendes all followed closely behind with four nominations.

Rihanna and Drake earned three nods each, including a Best Song nomination for their hit collaboration “Work.”
