Woman Arrested For Raining Slaps On Police Officer

A 40-year old woman, Rashidat Magrigor has been arrested after she allegedly slapped, spat on the face and tore police officer’s uniform while performing his lawful duty in Lagos.
The incident happened at Paul Ogunwota street in Idi Araba, Mushin where the officer, Cpl Owojori Olalekan went to effect arrest of a suspect.
Rashidat was charged with obstruction, assault and aiding a suspect to escape justice before Magistrate’s court sitting in Isolo, Lagos under the Criminal Code.
The victim suffered the fate when he went to effect an arrest of a suspect identified as Sulemain Olaide, who was involved in a criminal matter.
While Cpl Olalekan arrested Olaide and was taking him to their station for interrogation, Rashidat accosted the officers and told him that the suspect was not going anywhere with him.
As the policeman attempted to move on with the suspects to the station, Rashidat attacked him by raining on him slaps, spits on his face and tore his uniform.
In the course of the squabble, Olaide escaped and the officer went back to the station humiliated and dejected.
Even Rashidat reportedly threatened that nothing will happened and she was prepared to face any action the victim will take.
When the officer returned to the station and reported what happened, other officers at the station mobilized themselves, went and arrested Rashidat.
She was charged to court with the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo granted Rashidat bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum who must show evidence of tax payment.
Rashidat was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 14 November 2016.
