A woman, Onyekachi Okafor, has been arrested in Lagos for engaging her neighbour, one Edith Okoronkwo, in public fight and injuring her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ikotun area of Lagos where they resided.
The police did not state the exact cause of the fight and the women too were not forthcoming with the real issue that led to the fight in the area.
It was gathered that the two women had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter which led to hot exchange of words that later degenerated into a public brawl.
During the fight, Onyekachi reportedly used an object and inflicted injury on Edith’s leg, she bled profusely and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The assault was reported to the police at Ikotun Division; Onyekachi was arrested and detained at the police station.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that at the police station, the two women also failed to reveal the cause of their disagreement and fight.
However, the police found Onyekachi culpable and charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for assault.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon, did not oppose her being granted bail but asked the court to give a short date for the hearing of the matter.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr L.K.J. Layeni, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 27th August, 2018.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the police would have charged the two women for their conduct and affray. However, due to injury suffered by the victim, Edith, only Onyekachi was charged to court for assault.
