CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

A middle aged woman, Mrs. Vera Mary Henry has been arrested by the police after she allegedly stole two kids to replace her 20-year old daughter who got missing some time ago in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mrs. Henry claimed that the kids resembled her missing 20-year old daughter as a diviner had told her that her daughter was still alive but had reduced in size and stature.
Thus, when she saw the kids along the road at Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, she lured, abducted and was taking them away before she was apprehended by the police.
Mrs. Henry who resided at 6 Akanni Street, Shomolu, Lagos was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the State Command, Lagos.
The police boss said that the DPO of Sabo Division, CSP Mary Ubangha while on observation patrol at Little Road, Sabo, Yaba spotted Mrs. Henry with the two kids, aged 10 and 2. He said that the DPO trailed her but when she noticed that she was under surveillance, she diverted into St. Dominic Catholic Church, Yaba and the police followed her into the church.
The police then directed the church security not to allow her to leave the place without ascertaining her mission in the church with the kids. CP Edgal said the church security then brought her to the police station, where it was discovered that she was not the biological mother of the kids from different parents.
It was at the police station that she made known what a diviner told her and that the kids looked exactly like her missing girl. The woman was then detained for further investigation.
Edgal said later that the biological parents of the abducted children surfaced and gave their names as Jubril Garba for the 2-year old girl and Mr. Mukaila Amidu for the 10-year old boy.
He said it was at the police station that Mr. Amidu told the police that he sent the son on an errand and as he was going the 2-year old victim accompanied him unknown to her parent. And on their way Mrs. Henry lured the children away to an unknown destination.
When P.M.EXPRESS contacted Mrs. Henry, she denied kidnapping the children but was unable to say where she was taking them to.
CP Edgal said that investigations were still going on the matter and the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations. He used the opportunity to warn parents not to send any underaged children on errand as that will endanger their lives as this case has shown.
