Woman Sent To Prison For Enslaving 14-Year Old Girl

A 36-year old woman, Mrs. Peggy Adeleye has landed in prison for allegedly maltreating a 14-year old girl, Chinonye Ogeji believed to be her house maid.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ojiaka Street in Ago area, Okota, Lagos where they resided.

It was gathered that the suspect had been using strong sticks to beat the victim like a slave and had inflicted sore injuries on her body. That according to the residents had been happening, to the extent that it got to the police. She was arrested and detained at the police station.

At the police station, she was unable to explain why she gave the victim such injuries and she was ordered to be charged to court for the alleged offence.

She pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She was ordered to be remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 3 March, 2018.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim was still undergoing treatment in a hospital and thereafter will be handed over to her parents.
