World Food Day: Senator Tony Nwoye Pays Tribute To Farmers
The Senator representing the good people of Anambra North Senatorial District, Sen. Dr. Tony Nwoye, has paid glowing tributes to our food heroes – farmers on this year’s occasion of World Food Day; pledging commitment of his representation to ensure that the underutilized agrarian communities in Anambra North realizes self-sufficiency in food production and sustenance.
Speaking in his statement to mark this year’s World Food Day, with this year’s theme: “Water is life, water is food. Together, we leave no one behind”, Dr. Tony Nwoye underscored the critical role that water plays in ensuring food security across the globe as an inevitable resource that constitutes over 50% of our bodies and covering 71% of the Earth’s surface.
In rising to the challenges posed by inadequate water supply, the distinguished Senator affirmed that he will champion the provision of access to clean water to communities especially the rural areas in Anambra North through partnership with relevant government ministries, departments and agencies in a bid of exploring opportunities arising from the perspectives of their different mandates to support the campaign.
Guided by his strong belief that with the natural and human resources the country is endowed with, Dr. Tony Nwoye described starvation as inexcusable, saying that government must use the opportunity of today’s occasion to reflect on how to take decisive action against hunger and malnutrition, making sure that no one goes to bed hungry.
