The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon Segun Odunmbaku, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to achieve food security.
Hon. Odunmbaku made the disclosure in his remarks on the World Food Day. He said, “On this special occasion of World Food Day, I extend warm greetings to all residents as we unite in our commitment to achieving food security for all. As a government, we recognize that access to nutritious and affordable food is essential for the well-being and prosperity of our people”.
“In line with our vision, Ojodu LCDA has launched several food palliative programmes, including the “1K Everything” initiative and others like the “Zero Hunger” programme. These initiatives aim to provide food items to our residents at highly subsidised prices, ensuring that residents especially vulnerable people in our communities have access to affordable food. We have also made it a priority to purchase food items directly from our local farmers and agribusinesses, a move that not only boosts food security but also strengthens our local economy.”
“Moreover, we are taking concrete steps to ensure the future of food sufficiency through the empowerment of our youths. Ojodu LCDA has plans to train young people in innovative agricultural practices such as hydroponics and greenhouse technology. These modern techniques will enable us to increase food production, even in urban areas, thereby ensuring sustainable food security for generations to come.”
“As we celebrate World Food Day, let us continue working together to build a healthier, more food-secure Ojodu LCDA. Happy World Food Day!” Hon. Segun Odunmbaku concluded.
