The Yoruba Aborigines Progressive Initiative (YAPI), has expressed its unwavering support for the progress of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while endorsing him for a second term.

The group disclosed this Saturday at a press briefing in Lagos.

YAPI Chairman, Prince Olushola Omomulerin John, reiterated the transformative leadership of President Tinubu while highlighting the progress made so far under the current administration.

John, a former Niger Delta Agitator said, those visible achievements, less than two years into the administration, made the group to proudly announced its endorsement of the President for a second term.

“It is important to clarify that YAPI’s mission is not driven by political affiliations but rather by a firm commitment to supporting tangible advancements in governance, economic growth, and sectoral development throughout the country. In line with this vision, YAPI wholeheartedly endorses His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, recognizing the significant progress his administration has made over the past 22 months. YAPI has thoroughly evaluated the policies and initiatives implemented by the current government. One of the most notable actions, the removal of fuel subsidies on May 29, 2023, was initially met with public apprehension.

“However, strategic reforms in the oil sector are now yielding long-term benefits. Additionally, several impactful initiatives, including student loan facilities, the removal of customs duties on imported pharmaceuticals to increase affordability, and ongoing efforts to address the high cost of food, are making a positive difference for the nation. Moreover, the administration’s success in revitalizing the nation’s refineries, which had been non-operational for over three decades, is a remarkable achievement.

“Furthermore, the Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s progress,” John said.

Restating its support for Tinubu’s second term, the YAPI spokesperson, Olatubosun Awonuga, said wth a strong presence in ten states –Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Ekiti, Kwara, and Kogi– the group stated they are confident in Tinubu’s leadership, vision, and ability to propel Nigeria to greater heights, and YAPI will be ready to mobilise massive support for the return of President Tinubu during the 2027 Presidential elections.

“YAPI was founded out of a genuine commitment to the progress and development of our nation. We stand for justice, equity, and fairness. It is not only YAPI that has declared support for the president’s second-term bid; several other social-interest groups have also done the same. YAPI’s support is rooted in a desire to contribute to national progress; It is not out of place for us to express our support for the president,” Awonuga added.

The YAPI is a dedicated and proactive organization that has taken a pivotal role in advocating for indigenous security measures in the Southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

Its mission underscores the significance of local knowledge and understanding in ensuring the effectiveness of security measures and highlights the pressing need to protect these strategic resources.

This influential initiative has been at the forefront of promoting the establishment of a specialized security force tasked with safeguarding critical public infrastructures, with a particular focus on the region’s vital assets, including onshore and offshore oil wells.
