Yobe State Assembly Deputy Speaker, Kurmi Passes On

The Deputy Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Dr. Garba Ibrahim Kurmi is dead.
It was gathered that he passed on, Monday, following a protracted illness. The lawmaker reportedly died at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Damaturu, according to sources close to the family.
Until his demise, the Deputy Speaker was a member of the Yobe State House Assembly representing Fika 1 (Fika/Ngalda) Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was the Chairman security, petitions and legislative compliance committee of the House, as well as member of various standing committees.
Dr. Kurmi was first elected to represent the Fika 1 (Fike/Ngalda) State Constituency in the Assembly in 2011 and had been in the Assembly since then. The deceased, however, could not secure his party’s ticket for the 2019 Assembly election, following a loss in the primary election to Alhaji Yakubu Suleiman Malori.
The lawmaker was a Medical Doctor by profession and is survived by 2 wives and 8 children.
it was gathered that his remains will be committed to mother earth on Tuesday February 19, 2019, in Damaturu, according to Islamic rites.
