Youths Arraigned Over Vandalisation Of Ikeja Electric Cable

Three angry youths have been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for their alleged involvement in the vandalisation of electricity cables belonging to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company while protesting over a prolong darkness in their Egbeda area of Lagos.
The suspects are Quadri Friday, 29; Raji Muri, 24 and Owolabi Ismali, 25.
They however denied their alleged involvement but the police insisted they knew something about the vandalisation.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered some angry youths in the area had lamented perennial darkness they have been subjected to in the area.
They were also not happy that despite not being supplied electricity, yet the Ikeja Electric still serve them monthly outrageous bills and they decided to vent their anger by removing the cable.
When the DISCO discovered the vandalisation, they reported to the police and the suspects were arrested and charged to court.
They were charged with conspiracy to commit felony and stealing the cable belonging to Ikeja Electric.
At the Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo where they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail.
The matter was adjourned till 27 February 2017
