You’ve Wiped Away My Tears & Sorrow, House Beneficiary Tells Ekwunife

It was a moment of joy at Umuifite village in Agulu, Anaocha LGA, when the zonal project team of Senator Uche Ekwunife inspected one of the standard 3-Bedroom bungalows built for the less privileged by the federal lawmaker.

The edifice which has been completed was undergoing furnishing and was among the projects attracted by the Senator to give shelter and succour to the downtrodden in the Senatorial District.


Expressing her profound gratitude, the beneficiary of the house project, Mrs. Mercy Emeonye thanked God Almighty for the gift of Ekwunife. She described Senator Ekwunife as a woman with a compassionate heart who has wiped away her tears, suffering and sorrow. Mrs. Emeonye narrated how the death of her late husband had made life difficult for her.


The widow who could not contain her tears of joy said she had already lost hope from having an abode, but the distinguished Senator came to her rescue by giving her a shelter through the Anaocha LGA Widows Association, being coordinated by Mrs. Fidelia Anikwata.


“Praying to God to keep protecting and sustaining Senator Ekwunife has been my daily routine. Iyom has left an indelible mark in my heart. For her to have remembered me, God Almighty will always remember her. Her quest to become the next Governor of the state will come to reality”, the beneficiary said.
Sir Onyebuchi Okpala in his remarks, said that Ekwunife’s legacies in Agulu will forever stand the test of time. Sir Okpala thanked Ekwunife for wiping away the tears of the widow. He recalled other ongoing projects facilitated in the town by the Senator and said he had no iota of doubt in the capabilities of the Senator whom he described as a woman of substance. 


On her part, the chairlady, Agulu Women Wing, who was ably represented by the Secretary General, Mrs. Ogochukwu Oguejiofor said that Ekwunife did not only build the house for Mrs. Emeonye, but also for all the women in Agulu. The women leader promised Ekwunife that the women of the town will always support her. 


Mrs. Fidelia Anikwata, the coordinator Anaocha widows association, said she was very happy to be used by God to facilitate the project for the beneficiary. She prayed God to continue to bless the Senator. 


Earlier before the inspection visit the delegation led by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs Anambra State, Lady Henrietta Agbata paid homage to the palace of the traditional ruler of Agulu, HRM, Igwe Innocent Obodoakor.


On the entourage were, former Accountant General of Anambra State, Mrs Helen Nwaeri, former Chairman Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Chief Victor Okpoko, former Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr Rose Nwankwo, Project Manager Anambra Central Liaison Office, Mrs Ify Chinwuko, former Deputy Chairman Anaocha LGA, Chief Chuka Okpoko, Project consultant, Hon Obiora Okpala, Anaocha Coordinator SUECO, Chief Joe Muonagolu, Mr Joe Ezeatu amongst others.
