Zonal Elimination: Lagos Picks 16 Team Tickets For Edo 2020 Sports Festival

P.M. EXPRESS can report that out of 19 team sports ticket available at the just concluded South West Zonal Elimination ahead Edo 2020 National Sports Festival, Lagos State has secured 16 tickets for the national sports meet which holds in March.

The Zonal Elimination, which Lagos hosted at different venues across the metropolis, was competed by all the six states in the western region.

In the final result made available to P.M. EXPRESS early on Friday, Team Lagos showed dominance in all the sports, it was either the first positions or runners up slots. Lagos will be representing the zone in sports such as Basketball (male and female), Football (male and female), Rugby (male and female), Handball (male and female), Cricket (male and female), Hockey (male and female), Abula (mixed), Volleyball (female) and Beach Volleyball (female).

In the overall result table, Lagos state came first followed by Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti and Osun states.

Meanwhile, P.M. EXPRESS was informed that with the zonal elimination over, Team Lagos will not relent in their preparation for the National Sports Festival in Edo State.

It would be recalled that Team Lagos, holding strictly to their principle of youth sports development, finished overall fourth at the last National Sports Festival in Abuja in 2018. Lagos amassed a total 146 medals with a breakdown showing 36 gold, 37 silver and 73 bronze, the biggest haul among all the 36 states that participated
