The 2017 edition of Kidsport Charity Cup holds on Saturday December 16th at the Campos Mini Stadium, Joseph Street off Broad Street Lagos.
This year’s edition will be Season 9 in the series of Kidsport Charity Cup, a grassroots football tournament being played between Orphanages and Homes for the less privileged in Lagos State. Eight Homes will take part in the one day competition. They are SOS Isolo, SOS Owu, Street Child Care and Welfare Initiative, Citadel of Grace Home and Arrows of God.
Others are Project Friendship Initiative, Child Life Line and Habitation of Hope.
According to the organisers, this year’s event is proudly supported by Hope Alive Initiative (HAI), an innovation of the House of Oduduwa Foundation under the auspices of His Imperial Majesty, Arole Oduduwa, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife.
While generating a positive return to society, Hopes Alive Initiative aims to reach a large number of people regardless of geographical limits to eradicate the perils of suffering in today’s reality.
HAI supports other NGO’s and Kidsport is one of the beneficiaries of this laudable initiative.
The use of sports (soccer) and recreation for the cause of charity is quite popular but the Kidsport Charity Cup is much more than Soccer and Charity. The charity soccer game is held annually to raise funds for the training and care of children of different orphanages in Lagos and to add flare to it, Orphanages will have their registered teams play against each other for the ultimate goal of winning and taking home many more prizes.
