Senator Tejuoso Hosts Inaugural Egba Debate And Choral Competition
The event hall of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta witnessed a deluge of dignitaries and constituents as the senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Lanre Tejuoso hosted the inaugural edition of the Egba Debate and Choral Competition for constituents.
The preliminaries of competition tagged ‘Annual Egba Dialect Debate And Choral Competition’ took place earlier in the six local government areas in Ogun Central Senatorial District. It was for secondary schools within the senatorial district. The topics discussed were: ‘Nigeria is Ripe For A Female President’ ( Asiko Tito Fun Orile Ede Wa Lati Ni Obinrin Gege Bi Aare Ilu) and ‘The Mother Deserves More Nutrition Than The Child (Iya Nilo Awon Eroja Asaralore Ju Omo Lo). And the following schools emerged from the preliminaries:
1. Ifo Local Government:
*Ifo High School, Ifo (Debate)
*Adenrele High School (Choral)
2. Ewekoro Local Government:
*Methodist High School, Arigbajo (Debate)
*Adeoye Lambo Memorial Comprehensive High School, Obada (Choral)
3. Obafemi/Owode Local Government:
*Kobape Comm High School (Debate)
*Egba Owode Grammar School, Owode (Choral)
4. Odeda Local Government:
*Orile Iporo Comprehensive High School, Ijemo Fadipe (Debate)
*NUD Gramm School, Obantoko (Choral)
5. Abeokuta South Local Government:
*A.G.G.S, Abeokuta (Debate)
*Asero High School (Choral)
6. Abeokuta North Local Government:
*African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko (Debate)
*African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko (Choral)
The grand finale attracted dignitaries from far and near.
HRM, Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland was duly represented by Balogun of Egbaland, Chief Atobatele,
HRM, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, CON, Osile of Oke-ona Egba graced the occasion,
His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, FCA, CON was duly represented by Mrs. Modupe Mujota, Commissioner for Education, Ogun State,
Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi was present and so was
Mr. Segun Awolowo, CEO, Nigerian Export Promotion Council. Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu, member, Ogun State House of Assembly,
Mr. Tunde Sodade, CEO, Lekki Export Free Trade Zone,
Basorun Muyiwa Oladipupo, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ogun State,
Baales in Ogun Central, friends of the senator, parents, teachers, students and constituents from the six local government areas of Ogun Central Senatorial District added glamour to the event. It was indeed grand with pomp and pageantry and side attractions.
The grand finale was really hot and interesting, and eventually produced the following winners with prizes:

1st position – Orile Iporo Comprehensive High School, Odeda (Trophy + N100,000 cash prize)
2nd position – African Church Grammar School, Ita- eko Abeokuta (Trophy + N75,000 cash prize)
3rd position – A.G.G.S Abeokuta (Trophy + N50,000 cash prize)

1st position – Adeoye Lambo Memorial Comprehensive High School, Obada (Trophy + N100,000 cash prize)
2nd position – Asero High School, Asero (Trophy + N75,000 cash prize)
3. N.U.D Grammar School, Obantoko (Trophy + N50,000 cash prize)
Senator Dr. Lanre Tejuoso in a chat with P.M.EXPRESS after the event said he’s emboldened to do more for his constituency going by the impact of the competition. He reiterated that the competition was geared towards making his young constituents embrace the Egba culture and further preserve the Egba heritage.
