2019: Amosun May Not Go For Senate – Tejuoso

The Chairman Senate Committee on Health and Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso, has said that going by the statistics available to him, The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. might not run for the Senate in 2019.
The senator who is serving under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, while reaffirming his intention to run for a second term to his supporters and members of the party on Friday at a meeting held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, said that he is not aware if Amosun has purchased the senatorial nomination form.
The meeting was attended by some party leaders led by Alhaji Bakai Okedara and members of the ‘Eni a fe de’ group across the senatorial district. The groups at the meeting included, Sweet ladies, Senator Lanre Tejuoso (SLT) babes, gentle men, women leaders, among others.
Speaking on his interest to contest with the State Governor on direct primary, the senator said that presently his findings had shown that Amosun has not purchased the senatorial nomination form.
He said, “Amosun, with his support for my intention helped me to become senator in 2015. However, I told him that I shall withdraw my interest to run for second term only if he wished to run for the senate again but he told me what can make him run for Senate is if he will be the Senate President.
“But, in an executive meeting we held sometimes ago, the Governor took the microphone to announce his interest for the senatorial seat without informing me.
“Rather than allowing other people competing with my boss, I decided to purchase the senatorial ticket to continue representing the interest of my people. Nobody will die on the senate seat, we shall all leave the position someday but the party should not be spoiled”.
While speaking on his alleged defection, the Egba Prince said that he only left the All Progressives Congress, APC, but never joined another party. He added that while different people from other senatorial district were given job opportunities in the state, but his constituency was left behind claiming that it was the reason he left the party.
He said, “before my announcement, I meet with all chairmen under my senatorial district to chart the way out but immediately the party got information they summoned them not to listen”.
In his remarks, the party leader , Alhaji Bakai Okedara, urged all the members of the party in the state to support Tejuoso during the direct primary and after the election. He claimed that the senator has been sidelined because of the interest of his people.
