2019: Cross River Pensioners Endorse Ayade For Second Term

The journey to winning the 2019 gubernatorial elections for Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade got a major boost yesterday as the State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) on Tuesday endorsed him for a second term in office.
The State chairman of NUP, Comrade Ntamu Adie, conveyed the decision of the the pensioners during the 2018 edition of the Nigerian Pensioners Day celebration in Calabar.
According to Adie, the governor has performed well especially in the area of industrialization and pledged that members of the union numbering over 20,000 will turn out en masse to vote for him.
“We thank our industrializing governor, Senator Ben Ayade and his able team who are working tirelessly to change the Cross River State landscape,” Adie said.
On endorsing the governor, Adie assured that ” the NUP and indeed all the pensioners within that fold wholeheartedly endorse you for a second term in office.
“Our men and women will turn out en mass and vote you overwhelmingly back into office as Governor. Our word is our bond.”
The endorsement of the pensioners comes on the heels of several dozens of such from partisan, non partisan and pressure groups as well as unions, associations, individuals and body corporates.
Cross River is one of few states not owing pensions.
