2023 Elections: Ndigbo In Agege Declare Support For Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Obasa & Other APC Candidates

It was indeed an exciting moment at Agege/Orile Agege Local Government in Lagos State as the Igbo and non Igbo converged for the public endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and other APC candidates in the forthcoming election.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the event, which was organized by Ohanaeze Political Forum led by their amiable Chairman, Chief Solomon Chukwu and Ndigbo in APC in Agege/Orile Agege in conjunction with The United Citizens Foodstuff Market Association, took place at the popular Solochus Hotel, located at Iyana Ipaja Road, Agege area of Lagos.

The Igbo traditional rulers led by the Ezendigbo, Lagos State, Eze Dr Christian Nwachukwu, were also in attendance including other market men and women alongside their leaders.
Apart from the endorsement of Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu and Obasa, the Igbo also unanimously declared support for all APC candidates in the State Assembly and Federal House of Representatives and urged others to key into the project.

In attendance were the Chairman of Orile Agege Local Government, Hon Johnson Babatunde, Lagos State House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Jubreel Ayodeji Abdulkareem, Hon. Wale Ahmed and other APC candidates in Agege/Orile Agege LGA, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Councillors led by their Leader.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Solomon Chukwu, who is also the Coordinator of Ndigbo in APC in Agege/Orile Agege LG stated that the summit was the first of its kind organised for public declaration and endorsement of APC candidates in Lagos State, so that the party will know the stand of Ndigbo.

He explained that the Igbo arrived at the decision to support all APC candidates in the State because apart from being the ruling party in the State, they believe that the interest of Ndigbo will be protected with the popular Igbo adage which says that “Ebe Onye Bi ka ona Awachi” literary meaning that one protects his area of abode.

Chief Chukwu, who is also the Managing Director, Solochus Hotel and Lounge, noted that the Igbo had always identified with the APC in the past and they will continue to support and partner with the party in order to protect their businesses in the state.

He enjoined the Igbo across the Lagos State to come out enmass with their PVCs and vote for the APC in both the Federal and State elections.

The Chairman of Orile Agege LGA, Hon. Babatunde, commended the Igbo for taking such decision and stated that it has demonstrated that Ndigbo are in support of APC in Lagos State. He explained that the party will continue to partner with the Igbo in the area and enjoined them to come out and vote for all APC candidates during the elections.

Speaking in the same vein, Hon Abdulkareem commended the Igbo for their support and enjoined them to do more to ensure that the APC wins the elections and stressed that when they do, they will get more while hinting that the state doors are always open to accommodate the Igbo in the state.

Ezendigbo in Lagos State, Eze Nwachukwu, thanked the convener of the summit, Chief Solomon Chukwu, for taking such steps to demonstrate that the Igbo are with the APC despite the fact that this year’s election is critical because it involves other ethnic groups in Nigeria.

He stated that the Igbo will continue to support the party and encouraged the party leaders to reciprocate the efforts of the Igbo in Lagos State.
The event witnessed the presence of Igbo dignitaries including captain of Industry with different displays of Igbo cultural dance.
