4 Robbers Arraigned For Burgling Shop & Carting Away N3.2m Worth Of Items

Four suspected robbers have been arrested and charged for allegedly burgling a shop and carting away items worth over N3.2m belonging to a woman, Soboyede Hawal Daniba, at a market in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 25th May, 2025 at Ijegun market located along Ijegemo Road in Ijegun, Lagos.
The suspects were identified as Kudus Olayiwola, 35, Jimson Mobolaji Amen, 37, Dayo Hammed, 35 and Dominic Hilary Ekpu, 35.
According to the Police, the suspects conspired at night, broke into the shop, stole the items and escaped despite the presence of security men put in place at the market.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. The The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspects for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT1:”That you, Kudus Olayiwola, 35, Jimson Mobolaji Amen, 37, Dayo Hammed, 35 and Dominic Hilary Ekpu and others now at large on 25/05/2025 at about 0700hrs at ljegun market, Ijagemo Road, ljegun, Lagos, in the Lagos State magisterial district, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:” That you, Kudus Olayiwola, 35, Jimson Mobolaji Amen, 37, Dayo Hammed, 35 and Dominic Hilary Ekpu and others now at large on the same date, place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district, did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by entering into the shop of one Soboyede Hawal Daniba ‘F’ at Ijegun Market to commit felony therein, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168(d) of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, Kudus Olayiwola, 35, Jimson Mobolaji Amen, 37, Dayo Hammed, 35 and Dominic Hilary Ekpu and others now at large on the same date, place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district, did enter into the shop of one Soboyede Hawal Daniba ‘F’ and stole goods valued at N3,284,000.00, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT IV:”That you, Kudus Olayiwola, 35, Jimson Mobolaji Amen, 37, Dayo Hammed, 35 and Dominic Hilary Ekpu and others now at large on the same date, place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district, did burgle the shop of one Soboyede Hawal Daniba ‘F’ and stole her goods valued at N3,284,000.00, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 308(2) of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 1st July, 2025 for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
