For the Olufon Family, it’s been 40 years without Papa Gabriel Karunwi Olufon. There is an indescribable amount of grief after losing a father. Losing a father often means losing a protector, a guiding hand, a best friend, and a superhero. But focusing on all the incredible memories shared and the amazing man he was can help bring light into darker days.

In loving memory, Gbolahan Karunwi Olufon has this to say, “As we mark 40th anniversary of our great primogenitor’s demise, let us remember his great legacy of love, unity, honesty, hard work and fear of God”.

Mrs. Wemimo Ogundipe was not left out in the flow of emotions for her dad. She said, “How times flies! Papa mi, my friend, my confidant is 40 years with the Lord. I miss you so much popsy, especially for our unending tete-a-tete. I remember all the minor quarrels I had to settle between you and our mums. You must all be together now. What more can I say, but to thank God for the good legacy you left behind. You will forever live in our hearts. You were a fantastic father. Continue to rest in the blossom of our Lord Jesus Christ!”

On a memorable day like this, Mr. Wole Olufon has this to say about Papa, “As we commemorate 40 years of Papa Mi’s relocation into the 3rd Heavens, one is reminded of Psalm 16 verse 6. May each of us leave such legacy for our children”.

Sharing in the emotions, Mrs. Jolaade Moore said, “Remembering Papa Mi, wow! It’s hard to believe it’s been 40years! I salute our great father, who modeled to us what a united and loving family looks like; even though we didn’t fit society’s model of the monogamous family. But we sure beat out all the monogamous families in love and unity and enduring faith in God!! 🏽 🏽 🏽

Popsy, (I know you told us not to call you that anymore ) you are the greatest father next to God and I’m sure you’re up there very proud of your descendants, as they’re all blazing trails.

You were my first love, Papa Mi and I will always love you!”

Summarizing the eulogies in memory of Papa Gabriel Olufon, Prince Oluranti Ademola Olufon said, “Papa mi would have been 103 years today…However, Papa mi’s life will always be a vivid one as he was an epitome of greatness and sacrifice. His legacy of love, unity, diligence and integrity will surely go on forever. Remembering him on this day and every day after for being such an Amazing father that has shaped us to be who we are. Happy post humous birthday Papa mi!”

“That man is a success – who has lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children, who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it, who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.” The Olufon family fondly still remembers Papa Gabriel Karunwi Olufon especially on this day for all he stood for while alive.
