Angry residents of Ikotun and Egbe have  continued to knock and curse the Executive Chairman of Igando/Ikotun, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, over negligence following the collapse of Ikotun/Ejigbo Road leading to other communities in the area.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that for several months, the residents have raised alarm over the collapse of the portion of the road opposite the Ikotun Market and close to Synagogue Church of All Nations on Ikotun /Egbe Road, but the Council Management kept mute and was only busy selling their tickets and collecting toll on the road.

The residents are apprehensive of being cut off from their usual route of activities following a collapsed portion of the road resulting from erosion and the impending danger it poses in the area.

In a viral video available online, a resident was heard demanding actions from the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Council has failed the residents.

Some of the residents who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS expressed their disappointment with Igando/Ikotun  LCDA for not alerting the Governor about the danger the road posed in the area in order to act rather than the usual political promises.

The collapsed portion is quite close to the commercial nerve center of the LCDA and close to its secretariat yet they have  not shown any concern but are only interested in collecting toll and selling tickets.

Motorist were seen trying to maneuver the failed portion, which already is causing a serious traffic at the Ikotun roundabout axis and there is danger if a big truck passes through that portion of the road as it will completely collapse and be cut off.

Efforts to reach the Executive Chairman was not successful and call to the Secretary to the Local Government did not yield any result.

However, some of the Council staff said that they cannot do anything on the road because it is not a Local Government road rather it is the State that has responsibility to repair the road.
