Rivers State Police Command Commended By Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe For Neutralizing Suspected Cultist/Kidnapper

The National President of Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria, who doubles as the President General of Orashi National Congress, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe (AP JP), has commended the Rivers State Police Command for making a significant breakthrough in combating crime by neutralizing a notorious cultist and kidnapper, Gbarani Bume, a.k.a. Pelele.

The notorious suspect was a native of Bere Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State. He was a member of the Iceland Cult Group, which has been terrorizing Beree/Tabaa axis of Khana Local Government Area.

On the 15th of November, 2024, operatives of the Command attached to Bori Division acting on a tip-off, were mobilized to Luawii Community, where Pelele and his gang were attempting to kidnap a Site Engineer.

The hoodlums on sighting the operatives, opened fire on them and a fierce crossfire ensued between the Police operatives and the hoodlums during which Pelele was fatally wounded while his accomplices escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds.

Items recovered from the suspect included one AK-47 Rifle, two magazines and ten rounds of live ammunition.

Investigation is ongoing, while concerted efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing gang members and bring them to justice.

According to SYF National President, the operation demonstrated the Rivers State Police Command’s commitment to tackling and ensuring public safety across the state.

Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe expressed joy about the progress made since the new Police boss, CP Mustapha Bala Mohammed, came into office.

“I am hopeful that similar record will take place in Ahoada East cum Orashi region. I therefore, call on our people to always provide information to the Police in good time in order nip the nefarious activities of criminal elements in the bud” Snr. Comrade Ibe concluded.
