Corruption: APC And PDP’s Twin Hold
HARRIS CHUMA

In Nigeria, there are seemingly endless scandals involving past and present political leaders who are facing charges for corruption. Presently, APC and PDP are trading blames on the harvest of corruption impeding our growth as a nation. Regrettably, both elitist parties have had the mandate to lead the country out of the quagmire but ended up superintending the vicious decimation of our common wealth. Both parties have entrained and propagated the lootocracy system of governance such that Transparency International yearly rates Nigeria as one of the worst in the world on issues bordering on misappropriation of public funds.
While the ongoing media releases of corruption confessional statements from the most corrupt ridden political parties, it has become expedient to alert the citizenry that the exercise is an evil plot, weaved to curry favour from the unsuspecting electorates ahead of 2019 general elections in Nigeria. Even more devitrifying is the rapid defection of these political scavengers obviously on desperate missions to perpetuate the established lootocratic system of government in Nigeria.
Corruption has remained a hydra headed monster that has successfully brought misery and insecurity to the country. Corruption has denied Nigeria the foreign investments desperately needed to fast track development and growth. But rather than working assiduously towards ensuring that power is retrieved from these political Judases, it appeared that the oppressed people are under duress, applauding the thriving corrupt APC and PDP to their detriment.
Again, the political strange bed fellows that grouped and helped to end President Jonathan’s infamous reign are being swamped by political gangs who had began promising wealth for all, in return of course for more government power. May we not be fooled again! Nigerians do not yield to their political maneuverings, stand down on this poisonous old wine!
Let us in the spirit of brotherhood stitched in one destiny, aggressively push for the requiem of APC and PDP, push for good governance, push for a change of leadership baton, push for effective and efficient leadership, push for transparency, and accountability, push for productive governance, push for proactive and responsive leadership, push for a country that works for all, no matter the religion, colour, tribe, or class.
APC and PDP has entrenched a political culture in Nigeria that permits government officials to steal without a pang of conscience, and convince private citizens that redress is impossible. With a problem of this magnitude, there are no quick or easy solutions, but understanding the power of your vote is a vital first step. We cannot abandon Nigeria because of corrupt politicians in government, get your PVC and give them a run.
The father of corruption is greed, but the father of endemic corruption is cynicism, which prompts citizens to cede government to the venal until the people get fed up and power is wrestled from the profiteers and given to the predators……(to be continued)
Ekenem!
