Imo East: APP Candidate, Dr. Chima Amadi Assures Constituents Of Quality Representation

Action Peoples Party, APP, Senatorial Candidate for Imo East, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, popularly known as Mazi Gburugburu, has assured constituents of quality representation anchored on ideas and service as open campaigning for the 2027 elections commenced.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 19, after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, lifted the ban on open campaigning, Dr. Amadi said the APP in Imo East is ready to take its message to every ward in Owerri Zone.
“Ndi Imo East, umunne m, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters, distinguished party faithful, gentlemen of the press: Today, August 19th, INEC has lifted the ban on open campaigning. And I, Mazi Gburugburu, stand before you to declare without fear and without apology: the APP in Imo East is ready!” he said.
“We are ready, not with empty slogans, but with ideas. Not with bags of rice at election time, but with a plan for all time. While others perfected the politics of deceit, we walked the streets of Owerri, sat with traders in Relief Market, listened to farmers in Ngor Okpala, to artisans in Mbaise, to our youths whose talents waste for lack of opportunity. Their cries have become our manifesto. Their hopes have become our covenant.”
Dr. Amadi outlined his campaign priorities to include roads, security, youth employment, healthcare, and education.
“From today, we take our message to every ward and every community of Owerri Zone. We will campaign on issues — on our roads that have become rivers, on security of lives and property, on jobs for our teeming youth, on healthcare, on education, on bringing the dividends of the Senate home to Imo East, not to private pockets. We will not descend into insults or bitterness. We challenge every opponent to meet us on the field of ideas because that is a contest we cannot lose.”
The APP candidate warned against any attempt to intimidate voters or disrupt the campaign, saying the party would defend its right to campaign and the people’s right to choose.
“To anyone planning to intimidate our supporters — we see you, and we will resist you. To anyone plotting to harass our agents, disrupt our rallies, or threaten the good people of Imo East for daring to choose freely — know this: we will not run, we will not bow, and we will not be silenced. Gburugburu means everywhere — and everywhere in this zone, our people will stand, protected by the law, by our solidarity, and by our unshakeable resolve.”
“Every lawful instrument — the courts, the security agencies, the watchful eyes of the world — will be deployed in defence of our right to campaign and your right to hear us. We did not come this far to be frightened out of history. Imo East has buried too many dreams under bad leadership; we will not bury our courage too.”
Dr. Amadi also pledged to protect the mandate of the people at the polls.
“We are ready to defend our votes. Every single ballot cast by the people of Imo East will count: nothing more, nothing less. The era of writing results in hotel rooms is over. Our agents will be trained, vigilant, and present at every polling unit and every collation centre. We will watch, we will record, and we will follow every vote from the ballot box to the final declaration.”
“Anyone who dreams of subverting the will of Ndi Imo East should bury that dream today, because we will resist it lawfully, loudly, and to the very end.”
He charged party members to campaign with dignity and urged voters to judge him by his ideas, character and record.
“So I charge our members: go out with boldness. Campaign with dignity. Persuade with facts. Defend one another. And to my people of Imo East: judge me by my ideas, my character, and my record; and when the day comes, let your vote thunder louder than any threat.
“The campaign begins today. Mazi Gburugburu is ready. The APP is ready. Imo East, forward ever, backward never!”
“Unu emela! God bless Imo East. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
