My Return To Wembley A Blessing – Anthony Joshua

Posted on September 22, 2018

Anthony Joshua has described his return to Wembley as “a blessing”.

The 28-year-old will put his WBA, WBO and IBF titles on the line against Alexander Povetkin of Russia in London on Saturday night.

“Coming back (to Wembley) is a blessing; it’s time to put on a performance,” Joshua said at Thursday’s press conference.

The fight is seen by many as the toughest Joshua has taken on since he beat Wladimir Klitschko in April last year.

Povetkin is certainly confident of fully engaging the Briton.

Povetkin said: “I’m just as strong as Anthony Joshua. When I fought Klitschko I was much weaker, and in much worse shape than I am now.

“I really, really want to take these belts back home.”

Joshua’s trainer Rob McCracken said: “With respect to (Joseph) Parker and (Carlos) Takam, Povetkin comes from the top tier.”

Joshua added: “(I feel) tons of pressure. Underneath it all I know what I’m in for.”
