Nigerian Army Partners Betoniq In Post Service Housing Scheme
The Nigerian Army through Nigerian Army Post Housing Development Limited (NAPHSDL) has concluded arrangements with Betoniq West Nigeria Limited to build a total of 221 units housing estate worth about N7.5 billion in Benue State.
The army having signed the agreement earlier with the partners, on Saturday September 22, 2018, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Yusuf Buratai, stormed Otukpo, Benue State, for the official ground breaking ceremony. Also present at the event were the Chairman of Betoniq West Nigeria Limited, Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan (Rtd), Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu, Brig. Gen. Mahe Bashir –Managing Director, Nigerian Army Post Housing Development Limited, and many other high ranking military officials.
In his address at the occasion, the Chairman of Betoniq West Nigeria Limited, Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan (Rtd), said that the housing project is expected to be completed in 24 months. AVM Morgan explained that the project will start with the construction of 4 and 3 bedroom bungalows, and later the 4 and 3 bedroom duplexes before the detached houses will follow. He listed some of the facilities in the estate to include surface roads with asphalt cover, street lights, water and other essential facilities.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Yusuf Buratai, said that the project is a great one and would be financed through public and private partnership. He thanked the partners for believing in the army.
The host state, Benue State, was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu. In his speech, Engr. Abounu expressed the delight of the state government that a project of that magnitude was sited in their domain. He said that the project will create jobs for teeming Benue youths and as well create wealth and increase in the internally generated revenue of the state.
The site of the housing estate is at Otukpo and the location of the project is strategic due to the emergence of a new military barracks.
