The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hon. Lady Ndidi Mezue, Ada Dioramma, has rescued some children used by their single mother for begging around Awka, the Anambra State capital.
Lady Mezue and her team apprehended the middle aged mother of the children on Friday, 21st May, 2021, around Stanel World in Awka, where she was using her three underage children to seek for alms from members of the public.
On enquiry, the woman, who was married to an Oyo State man but now divorced, confessed she had no money to pay school bills for the children, hence her act.

The Commissioner, Lady Mezue, cautioned her against using her innocent children to solicit for alms and promised to assist them.
Earlier yesterday, the Commissioner took the children to an undisclosed school in Awka and cleared their bills. She further made some other donations to the children including school bags and other financial assistance to their mother so she can start a small business to be able to cater for her children
