Afashio-Uzairue Community Mourns Late Inspector George Abuimehre Akika

Retired Commissioner of Police, CP Augustine Akika, has lost his younger brother, Inspector George Abuimehre Akika, who passed away at the age of 59.
P.M.EXPRESS reports, thus, the Akika dynasty in Afashio-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, has been thrown into mourning following his death.
Members of the Afashio-Uzairue community and the Lagos Branch of the Afashio Progressive Association of Nigeria, APAN, have announced plans to give the late Inspector a befitting farewell.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of APAN Lagos Branch, Sir Eragbhe-Omole Paschal, KSM, the association said the late Inspector Abuimehre, popularly known as “Gorgo,” will be buried on May 23, 2026, at his residence. APAN called on members and sympathizers to turn out en masse to honour the deceased and support the Akika family during the burial rites.
The statement described the deceased as an illustrious son of Afashio-Uzairue, whose life reflected unity, humility, and service to humanity. It noted that his death was a painful loss not only to his family but also to friends, colleagues, associates, and the wider community.
“Late Abuimehre was true to his name’s meaning. He was a man whose life spoke volumes of honour and good virtues. He will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with him,” the statement read.
The group urged members to remain united and prayerful during the period of mourning and called for peaceful conduct and support for the bereaved family.
In a separate tribute, the Akika Dynasty described the late Inspector as a man of substance, simplicity, warmth, and quiet resilience.
The family said his passing on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, came as a shock and left many in grief and sorrow. They expressed gratitude for his selfless service to humanity and his unwavering commitment to family and community values.
Quoting Psalm 116:15, the tribute stated, “Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His saints,” and prayed for God’s comfort upon all those mourning his demise. The family prayed for the repose of his soul and urged loved ones to take solace in the legacies and virtues he left behind.
