There is no respite for native doctors arrested by the Anambra State Government for their alleged involvement in alleged criminal conduct for promoting money rituals and making charms for criminals in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Anambra State Government has expressed its determination to charge them before the Court for prosecution under the Anambra Homeland Security Law.

This was disclosed by the Anambra State Government through the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, at the weekend in Awka while speaking over the matter.

He stated that the native doctors currently in its custody will be arraigned in court immediately after investigations are completed.

Dr  Mefor stated while speaking to the state-owned broadcast station, Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS and confirmed that the suspects were still in custody undergoing interrogation over their alleged conduct.

He stated that Professor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration is working hard towards restoring sanity in the state.

“The State Government is serious about its commitment to eradicating criminal activities in Anambra State. If the native doctors are convicted, they will be sentenced in accordance with the provisions of the new Anambra Homeland Security Law.”

He also clarified that Soludo’s administration is not opposed to traditional worship as misinterpreted by some people, but is instead focused on tackling crime and those who enable it including native doctors who prepare charms for criminals.

So far, three native doctors have been arrested for allegedly promoting money rituals and making charms for criminals.

Those who have been arrested and already in custody include Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, Onyebuchi Okocha, also known as Onyeze Jesus and another from Okija in Ihiala known as Eke Hit.

All are said to still be in custody, pending investigation.

Meanwhile, some native doctors who are yet to be arrested are finding it difficult to relocate elsewhere because no community wants them across the State and the charms already prepared for their clients may begin to expire due to no attention for regular rituals for its efficacy, which was claimed may pose serious challenges to their clients in future.
