ALGON Chairman Comments On Purported Issuance Of Indigeneship Certificate By Lagos LGAs

Posted on January 5, 2024
The ALGON Chairman, Lagos State and President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Kolade David Alabi, has commented on the purported issuance of indigeneship certificate by Local Government Areas, which went viral on the social media.
Hon. Alabi said, “Moments ago, I watched with incredulity the cacophony of discordant testimonies on the issuance of INDIGENESHIP CERTIFICATE to non – indigenes of Lagos State on the Social Media. This is the most disparaging and damning of Local Government Authorities in Lagos State, whereof, only a part of the conversations and not the entire interview conducted by the reporter was made public!”
“The contigent claims by these unscrupulous individuals in the latter part of that interview confessed that those Certificates were not obtained from the LGs mentioned but through yet to be identified Cyber Café that issued the said “fake Certificates”!!. It is disheartening and most embarrassing to say the least, that the General Public has been grossly misinformed.”
“If I may ask, what does this controversial and circumstantial,  shamelessly arrogant contempt of the LG ADMINISTRATORS imply through the Social Media and also unbecoming of perpetrators of fraud to throw decency,  decorum into the winds while in search of pursuing unrealized dream with barrage of untruths, distortions and campaign of misinformation being dished out.”
“I dare say without equivocation that on our part, the records of the aforementioned LGs neither have “office copies” nor confirmed complicity on the part of LG Staff.”
“It therefore, beckons on the Nigeria Police Force, and  law enforcement agencies without sentiment to step-in, arrest, investigate and prosecute all concerned including the source – the Cybercafes since the mentioned LGs could not authenticate the issuance.”
“Finally, I speak the truth on the trust, competence, capacity, and proficiency of LG ADMINISTRATORS in Lagos State with a deep sense of responsibility and, by extension, the entire 774LGs and Area Councils.”
