Amb. Igali Calls For Opportunities For Open Debates Amongst PDP Aspirants

The leading aspirant for the Bayelsa Governorship Election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali, has expressed concern that so far, professional and civil society groups in Bayelsa State have not organized public debates amongst the 21 aspirants in order to enable Delegates access their readiness for office. The renowned diplomat stated this on Wednesday 27th August, 2019, while receiving a delegation of Youth Leaders at his impressive Campaign Headquarters on DSP Alamieyeseigha Road in the state capital, Yenagoa.
While describing all the aspirants who have come out as amongst the most qualified Bayelsans for the office of Governor, he still insisted that open debates would enable the public, especially delegates to focus on the commitment and vision of the individuals.
According to him, “The ongoing one on one and group discussions with Delegates is very good and most of them have come to appreciate my worth and that of my colleagues. But the ability to openly debate and expound the blueprints which we have or clear the air on several issues has always been part of political process”.
He expressed optimism of capturing the PDP ticket as shown by the massive support base which he enjoys from the over 1000 Delegates across all the LGAs and the general public. He stated that “This time, big money will not work, big names will not work. What will work is God’s answer to our continued prayers expressed through time tested, experienced, exposed, strong and visionary personality”.
On his part, the leader of the Bayelsa Youth Mandate Forum, Evangelist Moses Timikidi, stated that the group will work with other organisations to organise debates after the emergence of candidates from the various political parties. He described Amb. Igali as first amongst equals and called on PDP Delegates to put the interest of the state in their final decision. He condemned any candidate imposition or vote buying.
