Anambra Wins Broadband Infrastructure Excellence Award 2025
The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy has introduced the National Broadband Alliance for Nigeria (NBAN) to accelerate broadband connectivity and infrastructure development across the country.
The launch event, held on Tuesday, 4th February, 2025, in Lagos, brought together key industry stakeholders to discuss critical themes such as nationwide broadband expansion, enhanced collaboration, digital inclusion, and fostering innovation.
A key moment of the event was the announcement of Anambra State as the recipient of the Broadband Infrastructure Excellence Award 2025. This award recognizes the state’s remarkable progress in broadband infrastructure deployment, digital access, and innovation, all under the leadership of Governor Charles Soludo. Anambra’s commitment to expanding connectivity aligns with Nigeria’s broader broadband goals, including achieving 70% penetration by 2025 and improving data speeds for urban and rural areas.
Speaking at the event, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy—represented by Dr. Aminu Maina, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)—highlighted the need for increased broadband investment and infrastructure expansion to bridge connectivity gaps and unlock digital opportunities.
