Andy Uba Not Involved In N2.4Bn Arms Fraud, People’s Gazette Doing Hatchet Job – Igboeli

Posted on November 5, 2021

One of Andy Uba’s Media aides, Mr. Arinze Igboeli, has carpeted an online platform, People’s Gazette, accusing them of being hired to do a hatchet job against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Anambra Governorship election, Senator Andy Uba.

Reacting to the alleged blackmail, Igboeli said, “This morning, we witnessed a last minute attempt to besmirch the candidature of Senator Uba using People’s Gazette, a platform reputed to engage in spurious blackmail”.

“This medium yesterday announced that Senator Uba had participated in the Dasuki Arms Purchase Scandal through one of the Senator’s outfits but had been given a reprieve by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

“Ndi Banyi, such stories are false in all ramifications as the Gazette had stated that “President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the panel to remove Uba’s name because Uba was Buhari’s enforcer” Let me ask, enforcer in what sense? It is obvious that People’s Gazette in its desire to please those who sponsored such bizarre story forgot to do a thorough job on the story, otherwise it would have known that as at the height of the arms purchase scandal, Senator Andy Uba was still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, how then could he be in the opposition and still be Buhari’s major enforcer should baffle any intelligent mind, sadly this is what happens when we have charlatans masquerade as journalists. People’s Gazette is only doing a hatchet job against Senator Uba.”

“Uba only defected to the APC in December, 2017, two years after the Arms Purchase scandal was brought to fore, how then could Uba be Buhari’s enforcer?”

“Let us state categorically that neither Senator Andy Uba or other names mentioned in that news story had anything to do with any monies meant for arms purchase, what however, is obvious is that the opposition will spare no expense to destroy the character of the next Governor of Anambra State; they are aware that they have lost the elections in advance, they only intend to discredit the incoming Governor but their efforts will definitely come to naught” Igboeli concluded.
