Army Collaborates With Other Security Agencies To Arrest Impostors, Vandals, Cultists

The Nigerian Army, 81 Division troops have arrested about 11 impostors, suspected vandals and cultists in Lagos and Ogun State.

According to the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Enobong Okon Udoh, the troops worked in conjunction with the Department of State Security, Inspector General of Police Task force team, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps on the 16th of May, 2018 and swooped on the suspected pipeline vandals at Magboro in Ogun State along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The operation followed reliable information received from well meaning Nigerians during the anti illegal bunkering and anti pipeline vandalism patrol. The vandals according to the information operated during the late hours of the night. They usually break open petroleum pipelines to steal refined premium motor spirit, PMS.

Before their arrest, the vandals had filled up hundreds of jerricans and conveyed them to their marketing outlets in several trucks, buses, cars and vans. On sighting the troops, the vandals shot sporadically and exchanged gunfire with the troops who overpowered them and they fled to avoid being arrested.

Speaking with one of the suspects, a 30-year old motorcycle rider, Adeleke Afolagbade who resided at Magboro after Berger bus stop, he told P.M.EXPRESS that he was arrested on his way to drop a passenger and did not know anything about the vandals.

The police authorities said that investigations were on and they were making efforts to apprehend others said to be at large.

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Enobong Okon Udoh, appreciated the good people of Lagos and Ogun State for their continued cooperation and urged them to always give timely information. He pledged not to relent until the area is rid of all forms of cultism, vandalism, other violent criminal activities and their perpetrators.
