BREAKING: Gbajabiamila In Landslide Victory, Elected as Speaker  House of Representatives

Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1 from Lagos State, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been elected as the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly in what could have been described as a landslide victory.

Gbajabiamila, who is All Progressive Congress (APC) favoured candidate, beat his main challenger Mohammed Bago from Niger State with 282 votes against 76 votes.

The election was conducted under the supervision of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr Mohammed Sani-Omolori.

Mr. Abudlmumin Jibrin, the Director-General of the Gbajabiamila Speakership Campaign Council had earlier before the election nominated Mr Femi Gbajabiamila for the speakership seat, while a PDP rep. Member, Mrs Linda Ikpeazu seconded Jubrin’s motion.

Meanwhile, Honourable Idris Ahmed Wase from Plateau State was elected as the Deputy Speaker unopposed
