Buruj Sports Academy CEO Commends NSC For Youth Development Initiatives

The Chief Executive Officer of Buruj Sports Academy, Dr. Waheed Buruj, has applauded the Nigeria Sports Commission, NSC, for its commendable efforts in promoting youth development through sports, especially as demonstrated in the ongoing African School Games Championship taking place in Algeria.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Waheed expressed pride in Nigeria’s active participation and hailed the initiative as a powerful step toward building a sustainable future for sports in the country. According to him, international championships like the African School Games are critical in grooming young athletes for global competitiveness.

Among the standout young talents representing Nigeria is 15-year-old Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, a rising footballer from Buruj Sports Academy, who was selected to play for the national school team. Raheem’s inclusion not only highlights the Academy’s impact on grassroots football development but also showcases the success of structured training, discipline, and mentorship in nurturing young talents.

“Seeing one of our own, Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, wearing the national colours at just 15 fills us with pride,” said Dr. Waheed.

“His selection is a testament to what can happen when youths are given the right support, training, and exposure. I commend the Nigeria Sports Commission for recognizing the value of such tournaments.”

The African School Games, currently hosting student-athletes from across the continent, aim to promote unity, competition, and cultural exchange through sports. Nigeria’s participation has already begun yielding impressive performances in football, athletics, and other sporting events.

Dr. Waheed emphasized the need for continuous investment in school-based sports development, calling on government agencies and private stakeholders to create more opportunities for students to compete internationally.

“The future of Nigerian sports lies in the strength of our youth system. We must not relent in our efforts to equip them with platforms that challenge, shape, and reward their talents,” he added.

As the African School Games continue in Algeria, hopes remain high for Team Nigeria—not just for medals, but for the priceless exposure and growth it brings to the next generation of champions like Raheem.
