Buruj Sports Academy CEO Encourages Business Owners To File Accounts With FIRS

Posted on July 12, 2021

The CEO of Buruj Sports Academy, Dr. Waheed Buruj Salaudeen, has encouraged business owners and even other sports academies across the length and breadth of Nigeria to endeavour to file their accounts with the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, just as the sporting outfit had done to show transparency.

Dr. Waheed Buruj Salaudeen advised all business owners, who desire the improvement of the economic situation of our country, Nigeria, to adopt the ‘pay your tax syndrome’ and file their returns as and when due to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Lagos State Inland Revenue Services (LIRS) for businesses domiciled in Lagos.

In the words of Buruj Sports Academy CEO, Dr. Waheed Buruj Salaudeen, “Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the word ‘unprecedented’ took a common place in our diction”.

“When we review the effects the pandemic has had on our personal, family and professional lives, we have all encountered unprecedented events owing to the devastating impact the disease had on each of us. The New-normal system that has virtually affected how we go about our daily lives, not being able to see or embrace our loved ones, working from home or not being able to meet and have fun with loved ones. On the part of our players it prevented them from doing what they love to do best.”

”Every single person in the society has been affected and all economic sectors had to adapt to a constantly changing and uncertain landscape.”
“Buruj Sports Academy despite the weighing storm survived. We inherited a difficult situation with significant administration obligations to be sorted through.”

“Taking all these into consideration, huge progress was recorded in the subsidiary arm of the academy, Buruj Football Club, as we participated in the Nationwide League One for the first time since inception.”

“Sincere appreciation goes to all our fans, financial backbones in likes of Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II (Life Patron), General Overseer of Love of Christ Generation Church, Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, Iya Adura 1 (Life Matron), Ace Fuji Maestro Agbaakin Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere, PK1st (Chairman Board of Trustees), Constituted Football Authorities i.e. Nigeria Football Federation and Lagos State Football Association, members of staff, sponsors, partners, corporate customers, and not leaving behind our Tax Authorities Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS and Lagos Internal Revenue Service, LIRS and our local business community for all the support, faith and commitment they have shown our academy and the club during what have been extraordinary turbulent times.”

“Every penny invested in the club, whether in hospitality or through sponsorship helps to strengthen and enhance our playing squad.”

“Behind the scenes, we are also making positive changes to our management and staffing structure, so that we are ready for what will be an exciting future, but to be clear, we still have much to do.”

“The accounts we have filed today relate to a snapshot in time, which is 12 months old. The progress on and off the park since then is evident for all to see. The Board and investors have demonstrated their commitment to support the club through an incredibly difficult period for people and for the economy.”

“Thank you for the loyalty and passion you have shown and we are so grateful that you will be part of our exciting journey” the Buruj Sports Academy CEO concluded.
