Embattled Obi Ndigbo of Lagos, Chief Chibuike Azubuike has described the President General of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos, Chief Sunday Udeh, as a man who lacks integrity as his outright betrayal has caused pain to Ndigbo in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Azubuike revealed how Chief Sunday Udeh came to his house with some of his Executives, collected huge sums of money alongside a goat from him and crowned him Obi Ndigbo, Lagos. But same Udeh went to the Police, lied that he does not know him and did not crown him as Obi Ndigbo of Lagos.
The embittered Chief Azubuike stated this at his palace in Abaranje, Ikotun area of Lagos, following his release from custody after several months of incarceration, which was caused by Udeh over the crowning of Obi Ndigbo in Lagos State.
He stated that Chief Udeh even denied that he does not know his house, where he came with some members of his Executives and elders of the Igbo Speaking Community to crown and issue him a certificate dated 8th November, 2024, duly signed by Udeh and his General Secretary, Engr. Chucks Odimegwu.
Azubuike explained that he watched Chief Udeh while lying before the Lagos Commissioner of Police that he does not know him, nor where he lives. So, he decided to show evidence by bringing out the soft copy of the certificate he duly signed with his secretary, which he presented to him in his house.
He narrated that when he brought out the certificate, he looked stupid before the Police and his trouble started. The DPP realized that he was the prime suspect in the matter and found him culpable.
Chief Azubuike stated that what baffled him most was when Udeh lied before the Police, and it was the same house Udeh came with his Executives, collected huge sums of money, and a live goat. He narrated that Udeh ate pounded yam and even asked his wife to put the food in a flask as takeaway and uptill today, he has not returned the flask to his wife.
On how he got himself involved in the Obi Ndigbo of Lagos title, Chief Azubuike explained that he was in his house when some emissaries told him that the Igbo Speaking Community has observed his philanthropic gesture to Ndigbo and indeed humanity over the years.
They said that the Igbo Speaking community under Chief Udeh has considered him worthy for the Obi Ndigbo of Lagos title for him to be a rallying point for Ndigbo in Lagos State.

Chief Azubuike said that he initially refused but they continued to persuade him and he asked them if they have any constitutional backing of the Igbo Speaking Community to give such a title. They brought out their constitution and read it to him before he accepted.
He revealed that it was the same Ndigbo led by Chief Sunday Udeh and some Ndieze that conspired and wrote the petition against him claiming that he was into arms dealing and that he wanted to take over the traditional leadership in Lagos State. He said that they tried everything possible to use the Police to retrieve the certificate issued to him by Udeh but he told the Police that the person he gave the certificate traveled abroad and they were helpless.
“I have since tendered the certificate before the Court as evidence that Chief Udeh and indeed the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos, duly crowned me as Obi Ndigbo of Lagos.”
On the fate of the other defendants languishing at the Ikoyi Correctional facility, he stated that efforts are being made to effect their release from custody. He noted that it was Chief Sunday Udeh that caused the whole problem because if he had told the Police that the Igbo Speaking community crowned him as Obi Ndigbo in Lagos, the matter may not have reached the level it got to now.
He dismissed the insinuation that it is the host community that is behind the matter and explained that the petition was written by Ndigbo and they are not invisible.
