KINGSLEY EBERE

The General Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Comrade Gabby Oseke, has declared that the President, Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has demonstrated over the years that he has the capacity to lead Ndigbo in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Comrade Oseke stated this at the Ohanaeze Secretariat in Surulere, Lagos, on the heels of suggestions by some Igbo leaders for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu to elevate Chief Aguene as the Ohanaeze Coordinator (Southwest) to foster peace in Ohanaeze, Lagos State.

The Chief scribe explained that Ndigbo are behind Chief Aguene and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide should stop causing problem and support Aguene because he is backed by law as the authentic Ohanaeze President Lagos State.

“There is no way Aguene will relinquish power as some people were clamouring because there was no contestation, that he is legally occupying the position of Ohanaeze President, Lagos State, with the Court Consent Judgment.”

Oseke advised that people clamouring for Aguene to step down should first go to the High Court and vacate the judgement otherwise he will remain in the office till 2026 when he will conduct another election.

Comrade Oseke advised Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide President, Chief Iwuanyanwu, to consider to appoint Chief Aguene as the Coordinator of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Southwest, which will be to elevate him to higher position in recognition of his contributions to the welfare of Ndigbo in general.

He noted that the position of a Coordinator supposed to be occupied by serving and former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, which automatically qualifies Aguene into the position just like Chief Oliver Akubueze, Chief John Uche among others, who were former Presidents of Ohanaeze, Lagos State.

He commended Chief Iwuanyanwu to have identified with Aguene and declared publicly that he will continue to work with him because he knows Aguene has the capacity and has much to offer for the progress of Ndigbo.

Chief Aguene has been at the center of agitation for peace in Lagos State Ohanaeze as some were clamouring for him to step down and hand over to Chief Sunday Ossai despite his massive fellowship in Lagos State.

But the contention now is that those clamouring for him to step down are aware that he has valid Court judgment and does not occupy the position illegally. And to worsen the situation,  Chief Iwuanyanwu has declared it publicly that he will work with Aguene because he has the capacity and has the interest of Ndigbo at heart.

It was not confirmed if Chief Iwuanyanwu has accepted the clarion call by some Igbo leaders to appoint Chief Aguene as Ohanaeze Ndigbo Coordinator in Southwest but what is certain is that Iwuanyanwu has declared that he will work with Aguene because he has capacity.

Meanwhile, Chief Iwuanyanwu has congratulated Chief Aguene on his recent conferment as Lord Mayor by the Special United Nation Ambassador of Peace  when Aguene went to Owerri at the Glass House office to present the award to Iwuanyanwu, who reiterated his commitment to work with Aguene.
