The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), yesterday received in audience the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Leaders of Ikeja Local Government Area, led by the LGA Youth Leader, Hon. Femi.

The youth leaders, who came to congratulate the Chairman on his victory at the polls, also presented a giant-sized handmade congratulatory card to both the Chairman and his Vice Chairman in his office.

During the visit, various youth leaders took turns to share their thoughts, urging the Chairman to carry them along in his programmes and activities. They commended him for the visible youth-friendly direction of his administration since assumption of office.

One of the leaders praised AKOD for “hitting the ground running” immediately after taking office, describing it as a sign of readiness and preparation.

The LGA Youth Leader particularly urged the Chairman to prioritise the fight against drug abuse, noting its destructive impact on the youth population in Ikeja.

In his response, the Council Chairman, Comrade AKOD expressed deep appreciation for the youth leaders’ contributions during the campaign and election period. He recounted his personal journey and challenges before clinching the party’s ticket and eventually winning the general election.

He charged the youth leaders to brace up for active collaboration with his administration, assuring them that there will be multiple avenues for them to participate and benefit from the dividends of democracy. AKOD reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering focus on youth empowerment, education, and social development, adding that their partnership will be key in achieving the goals of the Ikeja Youth Masterplan.

Also present at the meeting were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore (OMITUNTUN); the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Rasheed Ogunseye; and the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chief Adeniyi Adeyi (Baba Oja).
