‘Count Me Out Of Biafra Agitation’ -Chimamanda Adichie

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, award-winning Nigerian author, has dissociated herself from the stories trending on the social media purporting that she is in support of the Biafran agitation.
Adichie, in a disclaimer via a post on her Facebook platform on Monday, said the stories were entirely false.
She has posted a headline that read: ‘Enough of this Political Correctness, I am a Biafran and Nothing Else — Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’
But Chimamanda stated: “This headline below, and other similar headlines, which appeared on some websites: are false.”
“They are completely invented; along with some accompanying quotes which have been attributed to me. I did not say or write those words.”
Chimamanda has stayed clear of politics and only used her Facebook platform to promote literary contents and issues.
The 39-year-old celebrated author of Igbo origin’s second novel, Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), named after the flag of the short-lived nation of Biafra, is set before and during the Nigerian Civil War.
It received the 2007 Orange Prize for Fiction and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award.
