Ebonyi State Indigenes In Lagos Honours Chief Solomon Aguene With Highest Chieftaincy Title
KINGSLEY EBERE
The people of Ebonyi State resident in Lagos State have conferred on the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, the highest chieftaincy title for his contributions for the development of the people in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene was given the title “IPHORO Ebony Lagos” meaning the light of the Ebonyi people in Lagos State.
Here is what Dr Solomon Aguene said concerning the honour:
“On the 20th of July, 2025, some delegates representing the people of Ebony living in Lagos visited me in my residence in Ikoyi with some tubers of yam, kolanut, some money and a very big ram to appreciate me for accepting to be honoured with a chieftaincy title, which was given to me on the 17th of July, 2025, as the Light Of the Ebony People in Lagos,(IPHORO Ebony Lagos). That was after consulting their Oracles both good and bad people including the likes of Judias Iscariot (Robert Obasi), even those who don’t appreciate some good were also consulted and after all the consultations they still came together and concluded that I merited that honour”.
When Chief Dr Solomon Ogbonna Aguene was born several years ago at his village in Onicha Igbo-Eze of Ebonyi State, probably the parents did not know that destiny had bestowed their son with the heart of gold and gift of taking care of the less privileged in the society as well serving humanity.
Mayor Aguene is a typical phenomenon, who would easily be described as charity begins from home icon, and indeed has been putting smile on the faces in his family, kindred, village, town, State and indeed Nigeria.
The traits that Chief Aguene will be a great man and serve humanity, against all odds started very early after his education and expanded his father’s art business, which is known worldwide as Aguene Art Foundation.
Through the Aguene Art Foundation, he has transversed all over the world through art exhibition and made contacts that lifted him among top successful business men in Nigeria.
This may have informed his decision to serve humanity using the platform of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State to touch the lives of many people over the years.
At 15, with the influence of his father, the young Solomon was admitted into the spiritual group, “OGBO-EKWA” which then stood as ancient police in Onicha Igbo-Eze (a group that chastises evil doers in the community and brings them to justice).
He believes that art is a form of culture and an extension of the mind and reasoning of the spirits. Therefore, he is resolute in his advocacy for custom and tradition of the Africans, and he is convinced that nothing will strengthen a people as much as a proper appreciation and understanding of their own history as recorded by their own people, in their own language.
In his quest to perpetuate and develop the ideals of his late father, Aguene Art Foundation, an indigenous non-governmental organisation was set up for the collection, preservation, development and advancement of arts and culture. To further enhance the preservation of our proud African heritage on a global level, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation, the patron of Onicha Igbo-Eze Town Union, Lagos branch, an ambassador for Peace, also an awardee of Pan-African Partnership Award for Peace, Art and Culture Development etc. has embarked on the establishment of Aguene Museum Of Master Pieces of Art.
Today, his vision has brought fame to him and has lifted his Ebonyi people and no wonder it was unanimously agreed by all the people of Ebonyi State resident in Lagos to give him the prestigious title as a mark of honour to the man also known as Udo Chia Ndigbo.
