ECN DG Participates In 2025 UN Climate Change Conference In Germany

The Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, participated in the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany, today. Convened under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the conference united global leaders and experts to evaluate progress, shape climate policies, and advance sustainable development.
Key discussions centered on climate adaptation, gender and climate change, non-market approaches, and the Global Goal on Adaptation.

Dr. Abdullahi joined the Nigerian delegation, comprising federal and state officials, including Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe, Director General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), Prof. Innocent Bariate Barikor from the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), and the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Taraba State, Aishat A. Barde. The delegation actively engaged in technical sessions and coordination meetings, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the global climate agenda.

Dr. Abdullahi reiterated ECN’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s energy transition through research, innovation, and international collaboration. His participation underscores ECN’s pivotal role in promoting sustainable energy policies aligned with global climate objectives.
