The Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and beyond on the celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Kabir, urging the faithful to uphold the virtues of peace, sacrifice, love, and national unity as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
In a congratulatory message on Wednesday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the Ooni who is also the Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) described Eid-ul-Kabir as a significant spiritual period that teaches obedience to God, selflessness, tolerance, and compassion for humanity.
The foremost monarch called on Muslims to use the sacred celebration to pray fervently for Nigeria, particularly at a time the country is facing economic and security challenges, stressing that collective prayers and patriotic commitment remain vital to national progress.
Ooni Ogunwusi noted that insecurity and other societal challenges should not be left to government alone, adding that every Nigerian has a role to play in promoting peace, unity, and mutual coexistence irrespective of ethnic, political, or religious differences.
According to him, the lessons of Eid-ul-Kabir should inspire citizens to show greater concern for one another, extend kindness to the less privileged, and support initiatives aimed at strengthening national harmony.
The Ooni also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing efforts towards addressing insecurity and stabilising the nation’s economy, while calling on Nigerians to continue supporting the government through constructive engagement and lawful conduct.
The Ooni further prayed for divine blessings, peace, and prosperity across the nation, wishing Muslims a joyful and spiritually fulfilling Eid celebration.
