Ekwunife Gives Account Of Stewardship At Stakeholders’ Meeting

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, CON, has extended her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the good people of the zone for their support throughout her four years representation.

Ekwunife made the appreciation at her 3rd and final stakeholders meeting to give account of her stewardship at the National Assembly.

Recall that on June 9, 2019, the Federal Lawmaker was inaugurated into the 9th Senate having been elected at the 2019 general elections to represent the zone at the red chambers.

The Chairman of the Meeting, Senator Ben Obi, CON ably represented by Prof. Augustine Nnonyelu described Ekwunife as a Senator with capacity which was the reason for the mammoth crowd that attended the meeting. He noted that due to Ekwunife’s sterling performance, all the stakeholders from cross party lines created time out of their busy schedules to attend the
meeting.

Prof Nnonyelu added that the University where he lectures, the Senator has completed two road projects and commended the Federal Lawmaker for giving the zone purposeful representation.

Addressing the Stakeholders, Ekwunife thanked the people of the Senatorial District for the opportunity to serve them and noted that she used the opportunity to impact positively in the lives of the people and the communities.

“In 2019 when I sought to represent you, I stated that Anambra Central deserves a Senator who will, in addition to being a strong voice in the Senate, affect lives beyond his or her immediate family” Ekwunife stated.

Speaking further, Ekwunife detailed that she has attracted several road construction projects across the 7 LGAs in the zone. I facilitated the first of its kind Capacity training for the Traditional rulers and President Generals to give them the knowledge of modern Technology. She also noted that over 500 Youths received capacity building training as well as facilitated over 600 federal government employment for the youths of the zone.

Senator Ekwunife maintained that during these 4 years of representation, she facilitated federal Government loans and grants of 103,000 to over 1000 constituents amongst numerous empowerment programs attracted by the Senator. She further highlighted that she facilitated the construction of classroom blocks, health centers, construction of houses for women and the less privileged, amongst others.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation stated that before the end of the first quarter of this year, the majority of the ongoing projects will be completed.

“It is sad that the last general elections was characterized by a high level of blackmail and slander, carefully targeted at my person by forces in the opposition, who were obviously intimidated by the massive goodwill I enjoyed for the people but those blackmails and slanders couldn’t deter me from delivering dividends of democracy to our people”

“I was able to sponsor 30 bills and over 18 Motions, notable amongst the bills include; the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2019, Federal College of Automobile Engineering Obosi Establishment Bill 2020, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (Amendment Act) 2020, Federal University of Science, Technology and Innovation Agulu Establishment Bill 2021 and others”

Conclusively, the federal Lawmaker extended her deepest gratitude to God almighty for always being her backbone and her indefatigable husband for always supporting her. She added that no amount of blackmail will erase her legacy in the zone. Ekwunife exclaimed that she was fulfilled and pleased with her performance in office.

Eulogizing the Senator, Prof. Stella Okunna described Ekwunife as a dogged Senator who excelled in a field dominated by men. She noted that the Lawmaker came, saw and conquered. Prof Okunna encouraged women to take opportunities in politics and on behalf of the Women thanked the Lawmaker for her quality Representation.

In his remark, HRH, Igwe C.N Okpala, the Traditional ruler of Akwaeze on behalf of the Traditional rulers of the zone thanked Ekwunife for her performance and described her as a dedicated Lawmaker who despite the outcome of the 2023 elections, continues her projects in the zone. The monarch prayed that God will continue to bless the lawmaker.

Chief Emeka Udodeme, on behalf of the Oha-na Eze Ndi Igbo, Anambra State Chapter thanked the Lawmaker and described her 4 years performance at the 9th Senate as scintillating and wonderful. He applauded the Lawmaker for the capacity building training of the Traditional rulers and Presidents Generals of the zone. Chief Udodeme stated that after the elections, she was skeptical about the completion of the road project the Senator attracted in Oraukwu but was proud to state that the road had been completed and commissioned.

Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu extolled the Federal Lawmaker and noted that Ekwunife made Anambra Central proud by surpassing her campaign promises and praised the Lawmaker for the completion of her road projects in Awka and other communities of the zone

The T.C Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Ozo Ikechukwu Gerald praised the Lawmaker for representing the zone Excellently well and described the Lawmaker as one who doesn’t discriminate. He noted that the Lawmaker built an Administrative building for the LGA despite the outcome of the 2023 elections and prayed God to continue blessing the Lawmaker

The Chief Medical Director, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Joseph Ogboja, OON, described Ekwunife as a goal getter who never relents in attracting the dividends of democracy and the Lion share of the zone at the National Assembly and urged the good people of the zone to continue praying for the Senator.

Ekwunife’s project Director, Hon Ify Chinwuko noted that the Federal Lawmaker whom she personally named “My Incoming” is a complete Lawmaker who has blessed lives beyond party lines and described her as an irreplaceable Senator. Hon. Chinwuko led the good people of Awka Ward 1 to present an Award of “Madam Project” to Ekwunife in recognition and Appreciation of her unprecedented constituency projects and quality representation

The Chairman ASATU Anambra Central Senatorial District, Dr. Ikechukwu Ofokansi added that Ekwunife is a blessing to the zone and noted that the PGs of the communities are in a better position to testify Ekwunife’s unprecedented performance. Dr Ofokansi prayed to God for his continuous blessings.

The Traditional ruler of Igboukwu, HRH , Igwe Alex Chika eulogized Ekwunife for her legislative strides and thanked the good people of Anambra Central for giving the Lawmaker the opportunity to represent the zone.

Giving the closing remark, Prince Emeka Eze (Eze na Ukpo) extensively praised Ekwunife for her incomparable representation and thanked the people of Anambra Central for their support to the Lawmaker.
