Epe communal land not for sale, Iposu Chieftaincy Family warns

The Iposu Chieftaincy Family in Epe area of Lagos State has alerted members of the public to beware of the strange directive of Oba Kamarudeen Animashaun the Oloja of Epe (Ijebu Epe) and the Oloja in Council on the disputed 1,168.141 hectares (2886.534 acres) of land situated at Epe communal land warning that the land is not for sale.

The family in a statement urged members of the general public and in particular members of the Iposu community to ignore and disregard the public notice issued by Oba Kamarudeen Animashaun the Oloja Of Epe (Ijebu Epe) and the Oloja in Council.

The statement was jointly signed by the head of the Iposu family, High Chief Wale Mogaji, S.O. Oladunjoye, Alh. Rasaki Iposu, Mr. Moshood Bakare, (Trustee), and the secretary, Mr. Sulaiman Sarafadeen.

The statement added that the substantive reliefs granted in favour of Awujale of Ijebuland are declaratory, and are not capable of enforcement.

The family contended that not even Awujale of Ijebuland can enforce the judgment.

The statement reads “We urge members of the general public and in particular members of our community to ignore and disregard the public notice. it is misleading and deliberately distorted facts on many grounds.

“Please take note that the recent judgments of the Epe High Court, the substantive reliefs granted in favour of Awujale are declaratory and are not capable of enforcement. Not even Awujale can enforce the judgment.

“Therefore, Oba Kamarudeen Animashaun has no right to resort to self-help with the aid of thugs and miscreants to purportedly enforce the judgment. The court has the machinery to enforce its judgment.

“Importantly, the Iposu chieftaincy family has appealed against the judgment of Justice Sharafa Olaitan and the family is hopeful that the Court of Appeal will set aside the judgment.

“We reiterate that purchasers/assignees or members of our community not to have anything to DO or deal with oba Kamorudeen animashaun or any member(s) of the so-called Oloja In council or his principal until the determination of the appeal.

“We have reported the excesses of Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun to the appropriate authorities in order to prevent a break down of laws and orders in Epe. Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun should follow the law and should not take laws into his own hands. nobody is above the law.

“Take further notice that anybody WHO transacts or purchases any land from Oba Kamorudeen Animasaun or his chief(s) does so at his own risk you are warned not to fall into the threat or false propaganda of Oba Kamoru Deen Animashun”.
