Equip Yourself With Requisite Knowledge, Skills – Sanwo-Olu Charges Corps Members

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has urged Corps Members deployed to the State for the National Youth Service to equip themselves with necessary skills and attitudes during their one-year service to the country, stressing that it would make them less reliant on government and white-collar jobs.
Sanwo-Olu, gave the advice at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 Batch B Stream II Corps Members deployed to the state at the NYSC orientation camp, Iyana-Ipaja.
According to the Governor, who was represented by the Director, Human Resources and Administration in the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mrs.Basirat Akinsanya, “The orientation programme has been packaged to give you solid foothold for a fulfilling service year as well as prepare you for the challenges of your service and post-service life”.

Calling for selfless commitment and dedication, the Governor stated that the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Initiative of the State Government has been developed and added to the NYSC scheme to make the Corp Members self-sufficient and accomplished entrepreneurs.
Sanwo-Olu enjoined them to take the SAED training seriously as, through it, they could be beneficiary for start-up capital from the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund [LSETF] that is in partnership with NYSC, Lagos.
He restated the relevance of the scheme and urged the Corpers to network while building a lasting friendship that would contribute positively in future endeavours.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Sunday Aromi called on the Corps Members to use the platform to exhibit leadership qualities of courage, determination, diligence and integrity, adding that a total of 2,016 prospective corps members have made up of 916 males and 1100 females were registered.
The highlight of the occasion was the swearing-in of the Corps Members by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, who was represented by Justice Olubunmbi Fala Adeniyi at the event.
