The Founder and Liberation Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers has congratulated the incoming Governor of Ogun State, Dr. Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his victory at the 2019 Governorship election while wishing him a peaceful and progressive reign when he assumes office.

The Association which is also part of the NURTW Ogun State said this during a press conference on Sunday 17th March, 2019, in one of its secretariat at Iyana Iyesi, Sango Ota, Ogun State.

The National Treasurer of the NURTW Ogun State Chapter and the Head of the group, Alhaji Mustafar Ismail, also wishes the incoming Governor a successful tenure of possible eight years in his prayers on behalf of the entire FLMNURTW.

The head of the group, Yaro Ade as he is fondly called said, “on behalf of the FLMNURTW, I congratulate our incoming Governor once again! Most of you are familiar with him as a successful business man with a progressive mind set and he will succeed as a Governor as his reign will be progressive and profitable to the people of Ogun State”.

The group wants the incoming Governor to strategize on how to set the Union in Ogun State on a new system. According to him, “We don’t want a disorganized union and we don’t want trouble that will lead to using machete or dangerous weapon to avoid sudden death and the breach of the peace in the community and the state”.

The group said that they equally anticipate sanity in the processes leading to the election and electoral body which will be coming on during his tenure.

“We have been running the ruling system of the NURTW system senatorially; the Egba as one of the tribes in Ogun State has ruled as the State Chairman, Remo has ruled twice in person of Prince Oladehinde before Yewa and the Chairmanship went back to the Egba as Akeem Jango became the State Chairman. Now, it’s the turn of the Ijebu constituency to rule the State NURTW as the state chairman. We also want our incoming Governor to call all our members and leaders together for dialogue and also appeal to them in order to know their mind because we don’t want bloodshed in Ogun State.”

He further said, “We learnt that some people are planning to impose someone from Lagos State on the union, we also want him to look into it”. The union has law and constitution which we are employing him to use it in order to bring peace and order in Ogun State.

The election is supposed to come up on 17th August, 2019, but the National Headquarters are in better position to fix the actual date of the election. We will be satisfied with the outcome from the National Quarters”.

FLMNURTW as a group wants the incoming Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, to focus on constructing roads in the rural areas. The urban roads had been tarred but goods come from the rural areas to the urban areas. The Governor should focus on constructing the roads for easy accessibility of vehicles. He should also create low interest rate loan for our drivers to be able to get their own vehicles for commercial purposes.

The group leader, Alhaji Ismail, admonished the general public to stop seeing the NURTW members as touts and illiterates saying that it’s a wrong notion as most of them are educated and he even has a Master degree in transportation from Onabisi Onabanjo University and many are also getting themselves educated.

In his final note, he appealed to all their members to follow the constitution and always allow peace to reign. Some of the members present were Alhaji Mustafa Ismail a.k.a Yaro Ade, Head of the group, Secretary, Prince Isiaka Durojaye a.k.a Uncle Joy, Comrade Evangelist Olufemi Sanyaolu, Founder, Alhaji Biliami Olatunji Founder and Alhaji Kehinde Aliu a.k.a the law founder.
