FrieslandCampina WAMCO Enhances Environment With ‘Zero Waste’ Plan

FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Nigeria’s leading dairy company, and producer of high-quality nutritious dairy products, such as Peak Milk, Three Crowns, Coast, Olympic and Nunu, launched its Zero Waste Initiative recently, towards achieving sustainable environmental practices.

The initiative was officially commissioned by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat ably represented by the Commissioner of Economic Planning and Budget, Mosopefolu George, during the 2024 Global Sustainability Week.

The event represents FrieslandCampina WAMCO’s commitment to balancing nutrition with environmental responsibility and marks the beginning of a comprehensive, two-phase approach to waste reduction.

Speaking at the launch, Mosopefolu representing the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, commended FrieslandCampina WAMCO saying: “Today’s launch reflects our collective commitment to create a cleaner and healthier Lagos. By reducing waste and promoting recycling, FrieslandCampina WAMCO is not only supporting Lagos State’s waste management goals but also setting a commendable example in Nigeria’s food and beverage industry. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative will have on both our environment and our communities.”

In his words, Managing Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Mr. Roger Adou stated that “FrieslandCampina WAMCO is committed to preserving the environment while providing Nigerians with high-quality dairy nutrition. The Zero Waste Initiative is a testament of our company’s dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. By implementing eco-friendly processes and reducing our carbon footprint, we will ensure that our operations are in balance with the planet.

“The Zero Waste initiative complements FrieslandCampina’s broader global goal of achieving climate neutrality and circular operations by 2050, with a specific target of zero waste to landfill by 2030. Our emphasis on responsible packaging, resource conservation, and sustainable production processes further demonstrates our commitment to ‘Doing Dairy Right’ and delivering high-quality nutrition in harmony with the planet’s needs” Adou said.
