Gov Emmanuel Says Sports Remain Vehicle For Unity & Development

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has identified sport as a vehicle which unity and development of the country can thrive. 

Governor Emmanuel stated this on Sunday 20th March, 2022, at the Grand Finale of Udom Emmanuel Unity Cup held at the Oron Sports Stadium in Oron. 

While thanking organisers for putting together the two-week long football tournament, the Governor, who was represented by a leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Eno, promised to inaugurate facilities that would further promote sports in the state. 

“I want to thank the organisers for arranging this football tournament to breed and showcase talents from this area. This government has done a lot to promote sports in the state.” 

“Sport is a vehicle for unity and development. In no distant time, this administration will commission sport stadia and other facilities to promote sports in the state,” he said. 

The final match of the Cup, which is aimed at furthering unity among the 5 Local Government Areas of Oron, was between Udung Uko United and Victory FC of Urue Offong/Oruko which won it by a margin of 3 goals to nil.

Highpoint was the ceremonial kick off by Pastor Eno on behalf of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
